As Saudi Arabia advances its sustainability agenda under Vision 2030, waste management and recycling have become critical priorities across municipalities, industries, healthcare facilities, commercial operations, and environmental governance frameworks. Organisations are increasingly expected to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, strengthen environmental compliance, and adopt more structured approaches to waste handling and circular economy practices. Yet many professionals and institutions still face challenges in understanding how modern waste systems, regulatory obligations, and sector-specific waste requirements should be applied effectively within the Saudi context.
This course is designed to provide a structured understanding of modern waste management and recycling practices in Saudi Arabia. It explores the foundations of waste management, national sustainability priorities, and emerging technologies and systems used to collect, sort, process, and recover waste more efficiently. Participants will also examine the management of specialised waste streams such as hazardous, medical, and electronic waste, as well as the national regulations, compliance obligations, and implementation expectations shaping the sector.
The course further addresses sustainability-oriented policies, recycling strategies, and economic approaches that support long-term environmental performance. By the end of the course, learners will be better equipped to contribute to safer waste handling, stronger regulatory compliance, and more sustainable waste management systems across Saudi organisations and public-sector environments.
